Chicago real estate, living and neighborhood perspective

Donating to the Gulf Disaster

I watched the marathon on Larry King earlier this evening, and it was just amazing, both on the money being raised, as well as the stories being told.

I have donated to the Nature Conservancy several times in the past, but I think this recent disaster needs all the help possible.  I hear the stories, see the photos, and yet I still don’t think I can imagine the way of life that has been drastically changed… the animals in need… the damage to the ecosystem.

Previously, I set aside a rainy day fund to help slowdowns in the industry, to which lately there have been many.  But I realize there may be more in need than just myself.  I created a Facebook Causes page to track donations, and will be matching donations made up to the goal I have set.  I am hoping those of you that come across this can spare at least a few dollars in helping to reach this goal.  I realize that the current economic environment  has been difficult for many, so any amount is welcomed.

My thoughts are that business may be difficult, I may have to pay a bill late, or put in extra hours at the office or skip eating out a few nights or buying a few things, but my life hasn’t been encumbered to the extent that many out there have and are going through.  Please take a moment and visit my causes page on Facebook; contribute any amount you can.  I wanted to keep the goal realistic, but I am hoping that we go well beyond that amount. For those of you who have already contributed, thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this endearing post!
