Considering Your Credit

If it’s been a year or more since you’ve checked your credit report, you’re entitled to get a free credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.  Checking your credit report helps to identify and address potential problems.

By checking your credit report, you can ensure that your personal and financial are  accurate.  Prospective buyers considering a home purchase may also consider looking at their credit to help identify possible programs and rates you would qualify for.  Certain properties may exclude specific types of financing depending on the owner occupancy rate, current reserves, type of property and even condition.  The latter has come up more frequently with the increase of distressed properties on the market.

There are many sites out there, additional financial services as well as imposter sites.  For information on where to go, check out the Federal Trade Commission’s website on how to obtain your free annual report, which is available once every twelve months.
