The Gulf Oil Spill

I have donated to The Nature Conservancy many times.  I make it a habit to donate a large percentage from sales towards conservation efforts worldwide.

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to as the BP oil spill, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the BP oil disaster or the Macondo blowout) was an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which flowed for three months in 2010. The impact of the spill still continues even after the well was capped. It is the largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry.  It impacted families, the environment, businesses and wildlife.  To what extent, we are still unsure of.

I started a Causes page, and for my birthday, I ask many to donate to the relief efforts in lieu of a card or gift, even if the amount was just $1.  After one week, I was able to raise $180 towards The Nature Conservancy in helping to protect the marine and wildlife affected by the spill. You can read my original post I wrote that month.
