Chicago real estate, living and neighborhood perspective

Looking at Aqua

Recently, I took a tour of Aqua while working with a client. There has been a lot of talk about this development, especially recently with news of Radisson opening up a Blu hotel on-site on several of the floors.

Many people either love or hate Aqua’s curvy exterior, but many love the full amenities located on-site. First, the building is divided up between rental floors and owner floors, the latter being on the top floors. All residents have access to almost all the common areas on two floors. The exercise room is immense and can compare against most health clubs; although Lakeshore Athletic Club is a block away as well. There is also a half court basketball court as well which I don’t see often enough. The indoor pool has a timer and Ipod dock for serious swimmers as well as spa.

The outdoor recreation deck features swimming pools, sundeck and zen garden. The day of my visit, the deck was undergoing construction so I wasn’t able to explore outside as much as I wanted.

Inside, The Sky Garden is a lounge area that has a flat panel tv and internet access. Great place to relax, hold casual meetings or have a drink after being out. There is a media room and a billiards/poker room as well that can be used by residents. Great option if you need to entertain a larger groups.

The business lounge has several computers to use and printers for all you aspiring entrepreneurs.

When done playing, residents take one of two elevators home: one for rental units, others are for owners living at the top floors.
The studio I looked at today has been upgraded. The kitchen has Snaidero cabinets, quartz counter tops and island. The bamboo floors really compliment the colors and materials of the kitchen.

Outside on the balcony, which no two are alike, there are views to the north, west and east. Looking eastbound, you can see Navy Pier, and probably will be able to catch fireworks from here. I hear that many renters are looking to rent from private owners from the top floors, for the view and updated finishes.

The location is great, even better if you’re working in the area. Aon Center is just a few steps down. From here, you can easily access the lake front, river, Millennium Park or Michigan Ave. This is a pretty cool building, and I love all the amenities on-site.
